Ask The Mayor

Mayor Hal Richards

Q. - When I moved to Terrell in Sept my water bill ran about $50. Now it is almost $100 a month. I teach school and am rarely home yet my water/sewer bill is more than my electric bill. Why was there an increase?

Answer - Thanks for your inquiry.

From the information that came in with your question, I see that you live in an apartment complex in Terrell. Your apartment complex has City water meters for each apartment building and the City bills the apartment complex based on these meters. The apartment manager somehow divides up the water uses and bills the apartment residents.

It is important for you know that we instituted a 7% rate increase for water and waste water September, 2012. This is well below the increase you have experienced. It would seem like this should be discussed with the apartment manager.

Hal Richards, Mayor
