Ask The Mayor
Q. - On Monday, November 5th and 12th, I went to the
library and tried to park in a handicapped space but couldn't because
cars that had no handicapped placard or plates had parked there.
I have found that this is a very common problem at
When I have reported this to the library employees,
I have been told to call the Police department and a ticket can be written
for these cars. These cars are taking valuable space for handicapped
people. I would appreciate a resolution to this problem. Thank you.
Answer - Thank you for this report.
The staff at the Hulsey Public Library try to keep an eye on these
violations but they are not always in a situation that allows them to
view the handicapped spaces. Because of your input, the library staff
is going to try to monitor this more closely. They will call Terrell
Police if they see what appears to be a violation.
Also as a result of your input, Terrell PD is going to put the library
on the “extra patrol” list, looking for violations.
Drivers may think it is OK for them to park in those spaces momentarily
but they should expect to be ticketed if Terrell PD shows up when they
are illegally taking up a handicapped space. The City appreciates citizen
reports of illegal parking in handicapped spaces.
