Ask The Mayor
Q. - When will the city get an updated system
that allows actual EFT (bank online payments) and direct posting
so the bill payments will be processed on time to avoid late fees?
A payment sent by snail mail on the 12th
does not get posted until the 20th and I was told it was the fault
of the mail service. Is there a problem with employee handling?
I will be at next city council meeting and
bring this up. I hope you will have answers ready.
Answer - Thanks for your inquiry.
The City of Terrell offers customers 6 ways to pay a utility bill:
- Draft payment from a bank
- Pay on-line using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover)
- Pay on-line using iPay Solutions Direct Deposit (also known as
“MARS - the Merchant Account Retrieval System”). Using
this system, some banks will send payments to the City electronically,
taking 1 to 2 days. Some banks will use the system to write and
mail a paper check to the City, taking 3 to 4 days.
- By mail
- 24 hour drive-through drop box at City Hall
- In person at City Hall
On normal business days, checks are processed and deposited daily.
Your bank mails a paper check to the City. If your bank offers
another electronic fund transfer solution the City will be glad
to review their requirements.
